More on UK Archaeological Literature: The Dreaded Yellow Book

After I finished the post on the bibliography of fieldwork I kicked one of the many piles of books in the Barford home and out tumbled one I'd bought about a year ago and after reading a bit of the middle, relegated it to 'the pile' where it has stayed. As I picked it up and tossed it back on the pile, it occured to me that amateurs of archaeology in the UK have another reason to be happy. They don't have to read books on field techniques written by scholars from Poznan. Ryszard Olgierd Mazurowski is a great guy, been out drinking with him many times, has done a huge amount for Polish archaeology, but like many of the brilliant scholars from the city could not write a clear text in plain Polish to save their lives, a nightmare to translate.  Sawdust for brains numpties can be grateful to God Almighty that they were born in dumb-down UK and not here where they'd have to struggle through books like Mazurowski's 'Leksykon pojęć i problemów archeologii polowej' [Lexicon of concepts and issues of field archaeology] PWN 2013. I'll get round to it one day.
